This was a pretty good book. I only gave it four stars because it started out so very slow. It really picked up half way through and then I couldn't put it down. The only other reason I gave it four outta five, is I can't decide if I liked the ending or not. Very realistic but also very sad. I'd recommend it though if you like mystery and romance.

The Immaculata a Mystery edition by Brad Fern Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book was an Ok read but highly disappointing given its 5 star ranking at the time of my purchase. I would not recommend it given the other options in mystery. I should have noted that only 4 people had ranked the book at the time I purchased it.

Yes - I know it's easier to critique and criticize than write - but I love good mysteries that draw you in and keep you turning the pages and engaged with the characters. This book did not do that for me. Its strongest feature was its premise, which I found interesting. Unfortunately, the story line made too many leaps that felt contrived and it could not keep my interest. I had tons of unanswered questions that only annoyed me.

I never mentally engaged with the characters either - too shallow in the development of their personalities. I did not connect with them.
I enjoyed this mystery. A great writer. Will keep you guessing till the end. Will definitely be buying more Brad Fern mysteries.
This book has it you going in many directions..Drama Romance and Suspense...who ever gave it a 3 star is wrong

It is a Must read!!!!! I hope the author has another book soon!!!!!
What a fabulous book! I can't believe this is a first novel from this author. I can't wait for more from him. This is a must read!
This short novel is very well written. I found it heart-pounding one minute, heart-breaking the next. The author draws you into the drama with great descriptions and imagery. The unexpected ending was quite a surprise and I found myself pondering it for quite a while, which is just what the author may have intended.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
I am surprised this is Fern's first time offering of a novel and I am sure it is not to be his last. I had to do a restart of this particular book as I had been reading another genre and was struggling with the writing style. I found that the problem was not his writing style but my reading. It has moments when it reads like a love story but has moments of horror that quickens the heart and has you murmuring..."don't do it....don't go in there...." only hoping that the protagonist does.....

The ending seemed an little unsettled to me at first. The reader in me wanted to go a different direction but Fern is the driver and we are along for the ride. I am glad after finishing that Fern did not take the easy way out when bringing us to the destination. After all, it is not a fairy tale.

His writing is Hitchcockesque and unsettling at times. His gift of being able to paint visual images with his words is outstanding. Please, B. Fern, bring on more of the same, if you please.
I know Brad and was very surprised that he was an author. Great story, easy reading, kept my attention all the way through.
